Our history

Take a journey through the past with us and learn how a small handicraft business first became a world market leader for weaving reeds for technical fabrics.

1862
The Wagner family begins with the production of weaving reeds from wood and supplies the Upper Franconian weavers.
1862
1920
Foundation of the first metal-processing weaving reed factory by Theodor Wagner at the Münchberg site.
1920
1974
The Swiss entrepreneur Karl Tomaschek takes over the Wagner weaving reed factory. The company name Wagner is retained due to its positive reputation.

Production of the world's longest weaving reed in Münchberg with a length of 24 metres.

The Künzel family takes over the management of the Münchberg and Krefeld sites.

Wagner Webblätter receives the Hidden Champion award and produces the weaving reeds used to make the paper for the EURO banknotes.

The company becomes world market leader in the category manufacturer for technical weaving reeds and is renamed WBK.

The Künzel family takes over the company and renames it KUENZEL advanced weaving technologies. It invests considerably in the expansion and production of filter and screening technology systems.

PureFlow begins positive development of special cartridge filters as well as filters for the home and garden sector and starts production three months later.

PureFlow strengthens the company and its international presence worldwide. New sales locations and a central consulting centre for industry, trade and users were established.

PureFlow receives certification Filter material for swimming and bathing pools according to KSW recommendation of the German Federal Health Office.
